Red wine from the Rhône Valley. Luberon appellation 85% Grenache Noir + 15% Cinsault, Viticulture biologique certifiée ECOCERT. Manual harvest Natural vinification Long aging
Located at the foot of Mourre Nègre, in the commune of Cabrières d’Aigues, Saint-Jean is the plot with the highest quality potential on the estate. Gravelly clay-limestone terroirs perfectly suited to vines, a gentle south-facing slope and first-rate plant material. This original massal selection produces small bunches of grapes with an unrivalled sugar/acidity balance, making the cuvée a delight. In 2019, I’ve decided to plant Cinsaults in these beautiful terroirs, a grape variety wrongly considered to be of lesser quality, but which in my view has all the qualities needed to produce a great red wine of the future, when planted in great terroirs: contained sugar richness, high acidity and fine, low tannin potential. This will enable us to work on the finesse of our wines in the future, as temperatures continue to rise.
More or less tempered by a proportion of Cinsault depending on the vintage, Cuvée Saint-Jean always surprises with its density and natural freshness. A cold terroir at the end of the season, it is harvested late and must be vatted without extraction to avoid releasing too much power.
MILLÉSIMES
This is the story of a Burgundian winemaker who came to Luberon. He drew on his roots to make unique wines in the south.
A family call and a timely proposal put the winemaker back on the road. Today, from north to south and south to north, each vintage is written in the plural.
